Full body skin checks

Full body skin checks

A full body skin check typically takes around 15–20 minutes. During the examination, your doctor will carefully assess your head, face, neck, torso, arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet, and toes. You will be asked to undress to your underwear, and a blanket can be provided for your comfort. Genital areas are not routinely examined; however, as skin cancers can develop anywhere on the body, please inform your doctor if you have any concerns in these areas. These areas will only be examined at your request. Your skin will be assessed using a dermatoscope, a specialised skin microscope that allows for more accurate evaluation of moles and lesions. The examination is completely painless. If a suspicious spot is identified, your doctor may take a photograph for your medical records or perform a biopsy, which involves taking a small sample of skin for further analysis.
